Panzer Brigade Formations This period sees the introduction of a variety of innovations to the German forces as they try new ideas to turn back the Allied tide. One of these was the new Panzer Brigades, designed for fighting on the Eastern Front where panzer divisions’ armoured battle groups had proved successful in cutting off and destroying Soviet spearheads. These new purpose-built battle groups were the Panzer Brigades.
