The Polish 14TP was envisioned as Poland’s ultimate interwar medium tank—a ambitious project meant to bridge the gap between light cavalry tanks and heavier breakthrough armor. Designed by the Technical Research Bureau of Armored Arms (BBTBr.Bron) in the late 1930s, it promised to be one of the most forward-thinking armored vehicles of its class before WWII cut its development short.

What made the 14TP interesting was its evolution from American innovator J. Walter Christie’s suspension concepts. Building on lessons from the experimental 10TP, Polish engineers aimed to create a tank optimized purely for tracks rather than the complex dual track-and-wheel system. By ditching the convertible drive mechanisms, the 14TP saved critical weight, allowing designers to bolster armor thickness up to 35–50mm without sacrificing agility.

Its intended firepower was equally impressive. Designers slated it to mount either a 37mm high-velocity gun or an upgraded 47mm anti-tank gun, paired with a powerful 300–400 hp Maybach engine. This powertrain aimed for a top speed around 50 km/h, giving it the operational mobility to outmaneuver early German Panzer III and IV variants.

A single chassis was near completion in 1939, but the German invasion forced engineers to destroy the prototype to prevent capture. Had it reached production, the 14TP would have given Poland a fast, well-armored, and hard-hitting medium tank capable of surprising the Wehrmacht in mobile warfare.
